Single – Good Morning America – (Release 27.03.2026)
Around about the end of 1982, having already written songs for artists such as Uriah Heep and singing with bands like Turbo and, after his departure from Whitesnake, Bernie Marsden’s short lived SOS, I decided to relocate to Switzerland and try something new. I was contacted by a Swiss group hunting for a singer. They were good, but . . .
In the following few months I recruited Steve Cherry on bass and vocals, formerly of Straight Eight and whom I’d played with in SOS, followed by Neale Heywood, a young ‚wunderknd‘ guitar player whose previous experience had been with Nik Kershaw. Along with the Swiss nucleus of Rolf Stehlin, formerly of Sorceror on guitar and the phenomenal Ernie Seifert on drums the band Shattered Hearts was born. We all lived together in a great modern house in the ancient town of Zofingen, put together these songs and rehearsed them in the nuclear bunker at Rolf’s father’s factory!
Recording with Charlie Schade in Kamen, DE we created the music you can finally get to hear today. Geffen Records A’n’R head honcho John Kalodner heard the tunes and flew in from the USA to hear us perform, but the suits over there decided to put there money elsewhere. During that process the band rocked on, recording another great batch of songs which I co-wrote and produced with Canadian singer Phé Cullen. Maybe they too will get released one day.
After music business issues – love the music, hate the business – and failing to get the record deal, our British contingent headed home. Neale subsequently went on to play with Sweet, Sally Oldfield and Peter Bardens along with Steve, before becoming a touring member of Fleetwood Mac in the late 90’s until the present day.
Steve, after recording and producing variuous artists, first in the UK then Denmark, eventually relocated there also in the 90’s, but not before co-creating the Dairy Studios in Brixton.
Ernie tragically passed away. Life got to be to much for him. We all loved Ernie, me especially, a fantastic drummer and a beautiful person. Rolf plays with a ZZ Top tribute band, still rocking.
Me? I eventually moved to Germany, working with amongst many others Eloy, Guano Apes and of course The Scorpions. I’m still writing, recording and singing like a demon!
We hope you enjoy listening to these songs as much as we enjoyed making them.
Tom Jackson
